Uncertainty does not begin to describe the times in which we are currently living.

From having to postpone honeymoons for disappointed clients; to having to cancel family trips that had been planned for almost a year. In one way or another, Covid-19 has affected every single soul on this planet.

Communities, cities, countries have had to make drastic changes in a matter of days. Actions we never thoughts humanly possible were made against all odds. Things like staying locked inside for almost 2 months, millions upon millions losing jobs, changing work format to online, halting school for billions of children, wearing masks to leave your house and so many other changes that if you had told me in January 2020 this would happen, I would of laughed.

In what concerns the travel industry, we are left with cruise, airline and hotel companies in the brink of bankruptcy, and worst of all the world economy in free fall, resulting in people suffering economically and cutting back on unnecessary expenses. And travel? Well, that is unnecessary expense number one for the foreseeable future.

Yet despite all of the hardships we have all encountered, it is the first time in our generation that we have had to face such a grim situation as a world community. We have come together blurring all borders, race, political views and religious inclination, in order to fight this invisible enemy.

We have brought back the things I missed most of my childhood: Getting to know your neighbors, evening walks with family, bike rides at all hours of the day, happy hours on the front porch and most importantly time; time for introspection and time to recalibrate our soul.

Humans have increased the pace of their lifestyle to unsustainable speed. If history can teach us anything, it is that from the moment humanity existed, inner silence was a way of life. If the last few months has taught me anything, it is to search back for the lost art of slowing down life.

And as for travel? It will return to its golden age, it always does.
